Network Model Designing

The network is the core of the most modern business, and the outcomes of such business can be highly impacted by network model designing. A framework for the network is required for balanced performance in terms of security, severance, cost, etc.

Keep on reading this article to get familiar with the topic.

What is network model designing?

Network model designing is the practice of planning and then designing a model of the network. It starts with finding out the technical and business requirement before implementing them in the network model. It includes network analysis, hardware selection, IP address, etc. The model design can be complex as well as simple depending on, the reason it is built for.

Steps involve in network model designing:

1.Discovering the requirements:

Before creating any network model designing project, start collecting information regarding the business idea but it is important to keep everything crystal clear. This is simply a preparation stage or the base of the design, which needs to be on the point so that in the future the network model design does not collapse. You need time to find the technical requirements which can be security, bandwidth, etc.

2. Evaluate the current state of the network:

It is important to know the current state of the network for an easy-going design. You need to understand the network layout, data flows, physical layout, logical layout, network security, application, and services on the network.

The best output can be gained by revising the existing network policies, monitoring tools, and diagrams, along with taking down notes for a better understanding. As per the network state, brainstorming for the model design can be done.

 3. Design your network topology:

Considering the physical and logical aspects of the network and start creating the network model. The physical aspects address the number of switch ports required, rack layout, Wi-Fi access point positioning, etc, and logical aspects address data flows, network topology, VLANs, IP addressing, etc. The network topology is designed based-on layers:

Core layer: It is the network backbone that routes traffic between different geographical sites.

Distribution layer: It behaves like a margin that restricts or allows network policies data flow within the network.

Access layer: It is for endpoint devices such as user printers, VoIP Phones, and Pcs. It is responsible for routing traffic and switching packets.

 4. Choosing the software and hardware:

This step involves identifying the hardware and software which will be efficient to use. Keep a record of network requirements before picking any software or hardware. This stage will come up with the chance to choose racks, network devices, servers, cloud services, and applications to give the design a realistic look. If the picking process faces any issues, it will impact the finishing rate of the model.

 5. Implementation of the plan:

Once done with following the previous step it is time to implement the points in the model design. The test of the model will help to know whether everything is working correctly.
